Can Algorithms Help in Evaluating Soldiers and Officers? — Przegląd Sił Zbrojnych 2025-3

The article addresses the problem of objectively evaluating the performance of soldiers and border guard units, where traditional assessment methods may be subjective and inconsistent. The author shows that this issue belongs to the field of operations research, specifically Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA-CCR), used for comparative efficiency evaluation. In the technical part, a mathematical model is presented in which units are analyzed based on multiple inputs (e.g. personnel, equipment, operational costs) and outputs (e.g. number of operations, readiness, effectiveness). The method uses linear programming and systems of inequalities to calculate efficiency scores and identify benchmark units. As shown in the analysis (pages 1–3), DEA-CCR enables the comparison of complex, multi-dimensional data and supports the identification of inefficiencies . As a result, the study allows distinguishing the most efficient units and provides guidance on how less efficient ones can improve their performance. The article demonstrates that DEA and linear programming as methods of operations research support objective evaluation and better decision-making in complex organizational systems.

The author shows that this issue belongs to the field of operations research, specifically Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA-CCR), used for benchmarking similar organizations.

In the technical part, a mathematical model is presented in which bakeries are compared based on multiple inputs (e.g. infrastructure, machines, labor, costs) and outputs (e.g. production volume, profit). The method uses linear programming and systems of inequalities to calculate efficiency scores. As shown in the tables and formulas (page 1–2), each bakery is evaluated through a set of constraints and optimization equations .

As a result, efficiency scores were obtained (e.g. Łopata and Lipinki = 1 as benchmark units, Bobry = 0.705), allowing identification of the best-performing bakeries and those requiring improvement. The article demonstrates that DEA and linear programming as methods of operations research enable objective efficiency assessment and support managerial decision-making.

How to Optimize a Bakery? — Przegląd piekarski i cukierniczy 2021-4

How to Optimize a Bakery? — Przegląd piekarski i cukierniczy 2021-4

The article addresses the problem of optimizing the overall functioning of a bakery, including logistics, production, and distribution, in order to minimize costs and maximize efficiency. The author shows that this issue belongs to the field of operations research, specifically linear programming and optimization methods.

In the technical part, a mathematical approach is introduced, where complex decision problems are translated into models with objective functions (e.g. minimizing transport costs) and constraints related to resources, production capacity, and demand. The article refers to the foundations of linear programming developed by George Dantzig and explains how such models can handle many variables and scenarios simultaneously .

As a result, it is shown that using optimization models allows better organization of bakery processes and more efficient decision-making compared to intuitive approaches. The article demonstrates that operations research and linear programming provide practical tools for improving business performance.

Optimization of the Fertilization Process of Cereal Crops Using Linear Programming Methods — Przegląd zbożowo-młynarski 2023-4

The article addresses the problem of optimizing crop production using fertilizers in order to maximize total revenue under resource constraints. The author shows that this issue belongs to the field of operations research, specifically linear programming, applied to agricultural decision-making.

In the technical part, a mathematical model is constructed with decision variables representing quantities of different crops, a profit-maximizing objective function, and linear constraints related to the availability of fertilizers (N1 and N2). The model is formulated using systems of linear inequalities and equations and solved using optimization tools such as the simplex method, supported by tabular data .

As a result, the optimal production plan was determined (e.g. allocating production mainly to one crop), achieving the maximum possible revenue (9375 PLN) while respecting all constraints. The article demonstrates that linear programming as a method of operations research enables effective resource allocation and supports rational economic decision-making.
